Syzygy

This is my Final Senior Project I worked on while attending MSU-Bozeman

Syzygy ˈsizijē :

early 17th century: via late Latin from Greek suzugia, from suzugos ‘yoked, paired,’ from sun- ‘with, together’ + the stem of zeugnunai ‘to yoke.’

Carl Sagan once said, “We are all star dust” and Neil DeGrasse Tyson said, “There’s as many atoms in a single molecule of your DNA as there are stars in the typical galaxy. We are, each of us, a little universe.”  We have come from the same elements that were created during the birth of our solar system. There is a reoccurrence and repetitive nature to life itself. Syzygy is a series that explores the beauty and intricacy of scientific visualizations by appropriating and digitally manipulating those interpretations and overlaying and integrating them with portraits. The body and the vintage drawings are used to represent the connection that the human body and the celestial. Syzygy is a recognition of that connection and how I interpret it.
