the social unit formed by a family living together
In the late 1980s my parents moved into the house where I lived for 19 years. When my parents sold my childhood home in 2015, I went and took photographs there one more time, while it was still my home. Before I moved to Paris in 2018, i scanned all of the photographs from my parents house. I found images of when they first moved into our home. I realized that, without knowing, I had taken images in the same space my parents had, in almost the same position and from the same perspective. Some images capture the light in the room and how I remember it, others are from that shared perspective. This brought about a deep connection with my parents, before I knew them. “Home” is a series of diptychs of scanned film and old prints. Each pair is an image of my own from 2015 and an image taken by either my father or my mother when they first moved into that home.
